Online Counselling for Greeks Abroad

Your life is here now, but part of your heart is still back home.

You don’t need to translate what you’re going through. We can talk in Greek, in English, or whichever feels more like you.

Online Sessions for Greeks Abroad: In a Nutshell

I work online with Greeks living outside Greece, in Greek or in English. I specialise in relational trauma, narcissistic abuse, parental alienation and family crisis. These things can hit harder when the people closest to you are miles away.

I know the time difference can get in the way. So on Mondays and Wednesdays, I’m available until 10 pm Greek time. You can book a session after work, without rearranging your whole day. In the UK, the last session on those days starts at 7 pm.

Our first meeting, the Introductory Session, is free. After that, an individual session is 45 minutes and costs €40, at Greek prices.

How are you feeling today?

ΊMaybe you know the feeling. Some days, everything here just feels heavier. Work, relationships, being so far from your people. You keep telling yourself you’re fine… until one day you’re not. And then you wonder why you didn’t reach out sooner.

If that sounds familiar, it’s not weakness. It’s what anyone carries when they build a life far from home. You’re not on your own.

Living between two worlds

Does any of this sound familiar?

Living between two worlds for Greeks abroad
Living between two worlds for Greeks abroad

You don’t need a “good enough reason” to ask for support. If something here rings true, that’s reason enough to start.

Living in another country comes with its own weight. You’re between two worlds, and sometimes you feel you don’t fully belong to either. Your people are far away, and every day you’re adjusting to a culture that isn’t quite yours. Most of the time, nobody sees it. From the outside, everything looks fine.

Why your mother tongue matters

Talking in your mother tongue isn’t just easier. It’s the language you first felt things in, so it’s often where your feelings come out most naturally and most honestly.

Some things just don’t translate: καημός, the shame in front of the relatives, that endless “what will people say”. You won’t have to explain to me what a Greek family is like. The values, the expectations, the roles, the things nobody talks about. I know them from the inside.

And if English feels more natural, or you live your life in both languages now, we can switch back and forth in the same session.

Language isn’t just words. It’s who you are, what you’ve lived, it’s home.

When a family spans two countries

Moving abroad changes more than your address. It changes how a family works. A divorce when one parent lives in another country. Kids growing up between two homes and two languages. A relationship with your child that only happens through a screen. Everything gets harder, and often there’s no one around who really gets the whole picture.

Distance can also open the door to parental alienation. When contact with your child goes through the other parent, the bond becomes more fragile and the pain more silent. And in a relationship with narcissistic traits, being in a foreign country, far from friends and family, can make you even more isolated and make it even harder to leave.

Parental alienation, narcissistic abuse, family crisis and the relational trauma a couple’s crisis can leave behind are among the areas I specialise in, but they’re not the only ones. Whatever brings you here, we’ll work with what you’re going through, at your own pace, with no pressure.

Relational Trauma

When the people who should have kept you safe left marks on how you see yourself and others.

When you start doubting your worth, and even what’s real. You learn to spot the patterns and find your way back to yourself.

When a parent grieves a child who’s still alive, distance makes the pain even quieter.

How I can support you

Divorce & Family Counselling

Support through divorce and beyond, for you and your kids, even when you live in different countries.

When your body and mind stay on high alert, even when “everything’s fine”.

When your emotions either flood you or go numb, and everyday life feels heavy.

I live between two countries too

I live between Greece and the UK myself, so I know this “double life” well: your everyday life is here, but your heart is partly there. I’ve lived and worked outside Greece, and I understand what people bring with them when they move abroad. The values, the expectations, the questions about who you are. All the things you won’t need to explain to me.

Sessions are in Greek or English. I studied English Language and Literature and spent many years in language education, working with students, families and professionals.

I’m a certified Mental Health Counsellor in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, through a programme recognised by the Hellenic Association of Counselling, with specialist training in Trauma and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

I work integratively. I don’t start with a model; I start with you and what you need.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Can I have sessions from the UK or another country?
Yes. Online sessions work wherever you are. All you need is a stable internet connection, a quiet space where you feel comfortable, and a laptop, tablet or phone with a camera.

Will the session times work with my time zone?
I know how hard it can be to fit a session into a busy day in another time zone. That’s why on Mondays and Wednesdays I work until 10 pm Greek time. In the UK, the last session starts at 7 pm, so you can come after work. If you live somewhere else, just message me, and we’ll find a time that suits you.

Can we talk in English, or switch between languages?
Of course. Greek, English, or a mix of both, whatever comes naturally. Lots of Greeks abroad talk about work in one language and family in the other. And that’s completely fine.

Are sessions confidential?
Yes, completely. We use secure platforms, and the same confidentiality rules apply as in face-to-face sessions.

How do I pay from abroad?
Online, by card, before the session. You’re charged in euros and your bank converts it automatically.

Are online sessions as effective as face-to-face ones?
Yes. Research shows that for most issues, online sessions work just as well. What matters most is the relationship we build, and that can happen at a distance too. There’s more on the Online Sessions page.

What if I need urgent help?
Online sessions aren’t an emergency service. If you or someone else is in danger, contact the emergency services where you are straight away. In the UK: 999 in an emergency, NHS 111, or Samaritans on 116 123, any time of day or night. In the EU: 112.
